Mites infesting a Leaf-tailed Gecko.
© Girraween National Park, 2009.

The tiny red dots all over this gecko are mites.
Leaf-tailed Geckoes and their relatives tend to have high infestations of these mite
species. Even though they may look similar, Geckobia species are only distantly
related to the red mites seen on spiders.
