Thopha saccata
Eastern Double Drummer

Conservation status: Least Concern


Double Drummers are one of the largest and noisiest cicadas in Australia. When a large number sing in unison, the sound is so loud that it can be unbearable. Thopa saccata is found in Queensland and New South Wales.
