Gold-fronted Riverdamsel, Gold-fronted Sprite

Conservation status: Least Concern


Gold-fronted Riverdamsels have been found in every state of Australia except Tasmania. They live around still and flowing waters; such as riverine pools, lakes, streams and rivers.

Male and female adults are coloured differently. Males are highly distinctive with a blue and black body and golden-yellow face and upper thorax. Females are a dull green with similar black markings to the male.

They are a medium-sized damselfly and can often be seen flying close to the surface of water.
