This is a female. Her body length was about 25mm, single wing length about 22mm.

Conservation status: Least Concern
This species is very common in Girraween. It is the largest species of Trichophthalma to occur in the park. The males hover in clearings, usually 2 to 4 metres above the ground and often at the tops of hills. The females can be found hovering or flying very slowly about half a metre above the ground, emitting a deep low hum.
