Conservation status: Least Concern

This species of cicada is quite common in New South Wales and Victoria. It is also found in Queensland, South Australia and perhaps in Western Australia.

This cicada species can be found in many different colours, or forms. The green form is commonly known as the Greengrocer. The yellow form is called a Yellow Monday, a dark brown form is known as Chocolate Soldier and a very pretty turquoise form is a Blue Moon. The cicada (above photo) that was found in Girraween is a variation of the orange and black form, which is known as a Masked Devil. It has a distinctive black stripe between its eyes.
