This species of cicada is quite common in New South Wales and Victoria. It is also found in Queensland, South Australia and perhaps in Western Australia.

| This cicada species can be found in many different colours, or forms. The green form is commonly known as the Greengrocer. The yellow form is called a Yellow Monday, a dark brown form is known as Chocolate Soldier and a very pretty turquoise form is a Blue Moon. The cicada (above photo) that was found in Girraween is a variation of the orange and black form, which is known as a Masked Devil. It has a distinctive black stripe between its eyes.
