Conservation status: Least Concern


This species of butterfly has been found in all the states and territories of Australia. It has also been found in Europe, Africa, South and Southeast Asia.

Adult males are mostly blue-violet on top with brown margins. Females are mostly brown on top, with only a little blue colouring in the centre of the wings. Both have a thin, long tail near two black spots that is visible on both the upper and lower surfaces of the trailing edge of the hindwings. The underside of the wings is patterned white and brown, with a broad white streak on the hindwings. Their wingspan is about 30 mm.

The caterpillars of this species are coloured white and are quite sluglike in appearance. They feed on various Pea species.
