Blue-spotted Hawker

Conservation status: Least Concern

This species is very widespread and has been found right across Australia, except in the Northern Territory. It prefers quiet waters, such as lakes and riverine pools.

It is a large dragonfly, with a wingspan of up to 100mm. It is a strong, fast flyer.

Adults are mostly dark brown in colour, with two bold pale stripes on the side of the thorax. The abdomen has a series of paired, yellowish spots and the wings are clear.
