Conservation status: Least Concern

This species can be found in all Australian states and territories except Tasmania. It typically flies close to the ground, often landing on low plants or the ground.

Males are reddish in colour with black markings on the abdomen. Females are a sandy-yellow colour. Both genders have a brownish-yellow spot at the base of the hind wing.
