Conservation status: Least Concern


This species has been found in every state and territory of Australia, except in Tasmania.

It is a medium-sized dragonfly with a wingspan of up to 60 mm.

Males are bright scarlet in colour and their hind wings have a brownish spot at the base. Females are yellowish with black markings and the tips of their wings are brownish.
