Orthetrum villosovittatum
Fiery Skimmer

Conservation status: Least Concern


This species has been found in Queensland, New South Wales, Victoria, The Northern Territory and Western Australia.

It is a medium-sized dragonfly with a wingspan of up to 75 mm. It is a fast, strong flier.

The head and abdomen of males is bright red, with a reddish-brown thorax. Females are an orange-red colour. Both genders have clear wings with brown bases. A distinguishing feature of this dragonfly is that the abdomen markedly narrows near the thorax.
