Ponderconcha ianthostoma
Granite Belt Woodland Snail

Conservation status: Least Concern

There is still a lot to be learned about Australian snails. As we find out more about them, species are sometimes reclassified and given new names. This snail's identification is currently in a state of flux as its name is being changed from Hadra corneovirens ianthostoma to Ponderconcha ianthostoma.

These snails are only found in the Granite Belt region in Queensland, south to Glen Innes in northern New South Wales.

The white shell in the photos above are most likley to be from this species. The colour has bleached from the shell after the animal died.
