Classification of Walking Tracks


Girraween's walking tracks have been classifed according to the Australian Standard AS 2156.1-2001.




Class 2

This is an easy, fairly level track, suitable for all fitness levels. There may be some gentle gradients, but only for short sections.

The Dr Roberts' Waterhole track and the Wyberba Walk are both Class 2.

Class 3

Well-defined track with some inclines or steps. There may be minor water crossings. Caution is needed on decomposed granite and exposed natural lookouts. A reasonable level of fitness and ankle-supporting footwear is required.
Castle Rock track.


Class 4

The track is fairly distinct, with steep exposed granite inclines or many steps. Caution is needed on decomposed granite and exposed natural lookouts. Moderate level of fitness and ankle-supporting footwear is required, as well as some navigational skills.
