This is a very common Earth Star. It can be found in Asia, Australasia, Europe, and North and South America.

What makes Geastrum triplex easily identifiable from other Earth Stars is that its outer layer not only splits into the usual star shape, it also cracks around the ball, so that the ball ends up sitting in a bowl or saucer-shaped structure.
